B.Voc (Analytics) - Overview

In the year 2013, an IBM Research study showed that 90% of the world's data had been generated in the last 2 years alone! Data is the new asset and this is the era of "Big Data". Data sets, whether in Science and Engineering, Economics, Healthcare or Business has been growing so rapidly that a number of challenges arise with respect to analysis of this data and its use. The ability to make use of this data depends heavily on the availability of a workforce that is trained and skilled to tackle this massive amount of data.

The UGC, having recognized the need of the hour, has sponsored this program in Analytics.

Analysis of Big data requires cross-disciplinary skills ranging from foundations in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science/Machine Learning and Operations Research techniques. The Department is correctly poised to offer this program by laying the foundations in traditional skills and supplementing them with newer skills such as Analytics tools and programming languages for Analytics.

Graduates of this program will be equipped with basic skills required to enter the "Data Science"/Analytics workforce. The program will focus on "foundation" + "skills" and exposure to tools and methodologies, which will prepare them for 21st century business challenges and data-driven decision making.
