NSS- NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
NSS is a community service programme sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India. The State Govt. National Service Scheme was started in Mount Carmel College (Autonomous) in the year 1972. The services of NSS unit of MCC over the years have been highly commended.
The aim of NSS is “the improvement of personality through service to community”. It arouses social consciousness of students and facilitates them to work creatively and contructively.
The volunteers are trained as per the motto of the National Service Scheme: ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’.
To encourage students enroll in NSS,. volunteers are awarded credits. NSS volunteers, who complete 240 hours of regular activities over a period of 2 years and attend one annual special camp, are issued an NSS certificate by the Bangalore University. This certificate can be utilized to apply for higher studies and public sector jobs under NSS quota.
