Eligibility: UG Courses: Candidates who have passed the two year PUC examination of the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board consisting of at least two science subjects as optional or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

PG Course: Candidates who obtains at least 50 % aggregate in B.Sc. with Chemistry as one of the Optional subject.

Credit course on “Lead: Its impact and application”

Industry Linkage:

Students will get an opportunity to attend workshop with industrial leaders like GE, Ce-Chem Pharmaceuticals and LGC Promochem.

Research Activities: The institution has a well equipped research lab where students will be exposed to the modern research instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), HPLC, Ultra Sonicator and UV-Visible spectrometer, Flame photometer etc.


The Department has four UG & two PG laboratories which are well equipped.

Department Fest: As a part of “Science Fest” the Department conducts different competitions.

Department Seminars & Conferences:

  • Department conducts seminars, workshops & conferences sponsored by different government agencies once in three years. UGC sponsored National Conference on “Lab to Business World” was conducted in February 2015.
  • Department organized “INSPIRE” (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) SCIENCE INTERNSHIP Camp, in association with the departments of Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Electronics, from the 17th to 21st of October 2016. Fifteen eminent speakers from reputed institutes addressed more than 150 students from 12 colleges in Bangalore. The programme was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, and is being organized throughout the country to give PU students an opportunity to experience the thrill of invention, innovation and discovery.
  • Department organized lecture series on “Motion in the Animal World from a Physics Perspective” by Shri. Madhusudan and on “Recovery of metals from used batteries” by Dr. Keshav Bulbule on the 17th of December 2016.
  • Department organized of chemistry Industry - Academia Interface every year to inspire and motivate the students to do internships in chemical or pharmaceutical companies. This year it was conducted on 6th March 2017. Mr. B.R.S. Rao, Managing director, LGC Promochem Pvt. Ltd, who was the chief guest, spoke in detail on the title of the programme with the global perception and the various qualities to be acquired by students to be a good intern.
