The College received Basic Science Research grants from University grants Commission new Delhi to strengthen the infrastructure in terms of power supply, water supply, safety equipment, fume hoods, laboratory working table and upgrading of laboratory etc for the Departments of Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Electronics, Home science, Bio technology, Environmental science and Microbiology. The grant was effectively utilized for the above said purposes to strengthen the academic and research activities of the departments.
With CPE-BSR Grant College have established animal tissue culture, simulation, and Food Processing Laboratories and fume hoods. Up gradation of existing laboratories has enabled staff and students to engage themselves in research activities. The percentage of faculty engaged in research has increased and the faculty is able to academically enhance their qualifications. The number of publications of research papers in refereed journals, Presentation of research papers at Regional, National and International conferences have multiplied 4-fold. Research culture has become a part of the academics of the college. With the infrastructure development aid, the Botany department standardized protocol for Tissue culture of Bacopa and Epidendrum, prepared synthetic seeds of Bacopa and Epidendrum , embryo culture, Anther culture, Blue green algae- Anabaena, Single cell protein Spirulina etc. UG projects were carried out in stress management in the department. Department of Home Science comprised of five subjects such as Foods and Nutrition, Textile, Human Development, Family Resource Management and Extension Education. The BSR grants are utilized to establish food processing lab and also renovate textile testing laboratory, food processing and Nutrition laboratories which has facilitated students to take up research projects in Textile and also in the value added product development.
Chemistry is one of the core subjects for all Life Science students as well as for Physical science combinations. The department has five laboratories for the students as well as two labs for carrying out small research projects of staff members. The department has so far utilized the infrastructure grant for upgrading the labs so as to make it safe and convenient for the student usage as well as research purpose.
Electronics department introduced advanced subjects such as Embedded Systems and Digital Signal Processing subjects. Infrastructure development grant has been utilized to develop LAN connection, simulation tools and upgrade electrical set up. With this infrastructure, the department has developed research lab for students to take up research after their post graduation. With the development of infrastructure of the laboratories, students of both undergraduate and post graduate are getting a quality education.
